It seems that the first
people from the outside
world came to the Andaman
Islands in the ninth
century a. D.
but
there is some evidence that
the Islands of the Andaman
Sea
where known since long time
before. Ptolemy seems to
have known about the groups
of isles in the Andaman Sea.
The Andaman Islands ,
belonging to India, number
more than 200, they are
located further south of the
Myanmar or Burmese Andaman
Islands, the Myanmar Andaman
Islands are islands in the
Mergui Archipelago,
numbering around 800.
The people in the Andaman
Sea and islands of the Mergui Archipelago
called Salone or Moken are a
mixed population of Malay, Negrito, Arabs, Chinese,
Portuguese, English,
Burmese, Karen and
offspring's of other
travelers who left behind
some genes in the pool, they
are also known the sea
gypsies
Almost all the islands of
the Andaman Sea are coconut
islands. Food is what is
hunted in the Andaman Sea
and on the islands,
usually with harpoons and
small mammals from the
islands. If this is not
available the island people
eat other animals like
lizards ect. Alcoholic
drinks, either by fermenting
coconut milk or what was
introduced from the West,
such as rum, gin and beer
are used everywhere. During
British colonial times the
Salone or Moken of the
Mergui Archipelago where
heavy user of opium which
the British gave in exchange
for pearls, amber and other
material coming from the
sea.

is one of the wettest places

The Andaman islands are
covered with swelling hills
and dense jungle. All
life is going on at the
sandy shore with grass
before merging with the
jungle. Stately palm trees

palms, the sunlight and the
sea. Trekking in the island
jungle to watch strange
birds and other animals, a

easy-going islanders.

once more.
So the squall passes
— generally leaving a calm
behind it —having in a
little space squandered
enough unavailing breeze to
have helped the vessel on
her course for hours to
come.
Next morning other
islands of the Andaman Sea
Mergui Archipelago rise
above the horizon.

valid
for
Kawthaung
and
vicinity.

country
it
needs
the
official
visa
application
via
a
Myanmar
consulate
for
your

rainy
season

in
the
Myeik

Mergui
and
Kawthaung
district.

off

west
coast
of
Thailand,

is
in

beach.
